Creating a fire pit area – part 4

posted by on Garden & Yard, Renovations/DIY

Well, we are chugging along with our fire pit project and by the next post we will be done. Right Todd? Poor man, I am driving him nuts. But the faster we can get it done the faster we can enjoy it. Summer is short here in Newfoundland.

If you want to read about our progress you can click, part one, part two and part three.

We have the path complete that runs from the deck to the pond. I think we did a super job.

Then we completed the retaining wall.

After much debate we decided to sod the top and build the in ground fire pit with flagstone rather than the whole area done in flagstone. The reason for the sod was the concern for broken glass or bottles. Ahhem Todd. We are not concerned with wearing of paths as this area will be used less often than the path to the pond so sod was a good choice. We also need to remove that tree behind Todd plus a few more in front of him that you can not see.

And that’s where we are with this project. Next post we’ll have the fire pit in. Woohoo!

Until Next Time
